Feather M13 (Turbo) is faster than stock Apple drives, more reliable than handmade 3rd-party solutions, and is fully compatible with Macs from 2013 to 2019. All drives come formatted as MacOS Extended with High Sierra 10.13.6 preinstalled. Feather M13 is an NVMe drive. As with all NVMe drives, you will not be able to use this SSD without an updated boot ROM version. This means that your Mac needs to have been operating with at least High Sierra OS (Mojave OS, or Catalina OS) BEFORE our drive is installed.

If customers need to do this update, it is available online and can be accomplished with a few easy steps if you have a working apple OEM drive. We can assist with that update if needed. We also have listings that come with a USB installer to assist with this update.

If customers do not have a working apple OEM drive and need to do this update, our supplier rents out installation kits which come with an apple OEM drive and a USB installer. Please check with the Compatibility section below before purchasing! Do NOT use model number alone to identify your Mac. Please use the EMC number found immediately after the model number, as shown below: M13 (Turbo) is compatible with the same models as M13, but using it on a model with the 1500MBps throttling can lead to adverse effects. You'll need to be running at least High Sierra (10.13) to meet the minimum boot ROM version requirements. This update must be done prior to installing the M13 (Turbo).

If you're unsure you have the needed update, you can check your current boot ROM version by clicking the Apple icon in the top left corner of your screen, then "About this Mac", and finally System Report. 2013 - 2014 MacBook Pro and Air models (marked with a in the compatibility tables above) have a known hibernation issue with NVMe SSDs.

This can be resolved by running the following command in Terminal. Sudo pmset hibernatemode 0 standby 0. Feather M13 (Turbo) is NOT compatible with Fledging's Shell Enclosure. Drive appearance may not be an exact match to the photo.
